This is my friend Heather.  Our friendship began over a common love for Disneyland and grew from there.  This is a bit of Heather in her own words:

July 18th, 2011 is the day that forever changed my life.  I was diagnosed with a brain tumor in my cerebellum and since then, found out that I have 2 rare diseases – Cowden’s Syndrome and Lhermitte-duclos Disease.  I found my diagnosis has instilled a desire for change in me, as I’m doing some things I’ve never imagined!  I’ve created two mantras: ‘Miracles are everywhere… Look for yours!’ and ‘Change happens when you least expect it.  Embrace it.’

You heard that right folks.  Last year, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  She has been through a lot this year.  To hell and back.  And she works to spread the word about Cowden’s Syndrome and rare diseases.  I would be a fool not to say that I admire her strength through all of this.  She is a great example that you can get kicked in the butt and still come out the other side a stronger person.  You can read in her own words what it has been like here on her blog.

These pictures were taken to celebrate her turning 40.  You’d never guess right?  It was an honor!
