50th anniversary – affordable los angeles event photographer

This event was put on by two lovely sisters to celebrate their parents’ 50th Wedding Anniversary.  I didn’t know the family before that night, but as you can see, they have good reason to celebrate.  Beautiful grandchildren, plenty of friends – love all around.  I thought it was so cute that each table was adorned with different words describing what makes a marriage work:  Love, Kindness, Respect, Trust, Humor and Hope.  All that and much more!

I’m a little biased (being married to one myself), but Armenians throw the best parties!  The food doesn’t stop and they always dance late into the night.  You can’t help but have fun.  Congratulations to this amazing couple!

Love,

the new year – affordable los angeles photographer

It’s 2010.  (Seriously?!)  And with every New Year, I can’t help but take time to reflect.  And think about the things I still want to accomplish.  The New Year brings new ideas & new goals.  So what do I want out of this year?  I want to continue growing my business and be able to put my personal stamp on everything I do.  What kind of photographer do I want to be?  I want to be a photographer who can capture more than just great pictures.  They have to be real moments.  How do I that?  Well, I think I’m on the right track, but feel like I have a long way to go.  I have to continue to practice, lose the timid side and keep my heart in it.

I decided that my first order of business would be to create a mantra for myself.  Basically a few little words I can keep in my brain that will remind me to capture the kind of images I loooove.  Like, L-O-V-E love.  There are a lot of bases to cover in one itty-bitty mantra, so as I pondered over this, a thought kept coming to mind – just keep it simple.  So I thought, yes I definitely want to keep my mantra simple.  Hmm… What’s a good mantra?  What’s a good mantra…?  It took a second, but then the “Duh” bell went off in my brain.  Hello?!

Keep. It. Simple.

That should be your mantra!  There are no better words to encompass all those things I want than Keep It Simple.  In 2010 I want my images to be simple.  More real.  I want them to be raw.  I want to look at the photos and feel like I can see a piece of the soul.  I want laughter, running, jumping, cuddles.  I want to capture those beautiful, simple moments in life.  I want to carry the minimal amount of equipment with maximum results.  I want to simplify everything.  (Not a bad idea for my personal life either.)

So as I open my eyes each morning, I want to remember those 3 little words.  Keep. It. Simple.

Oh, and 2010?  Bring it.

Love,
