heartbreak warfare…

Here are some photos of my boy’s battle wounds.  I look at him and my heart breaks a little each time.  But chicks dig scars, right??

He’s already a month old!  I can’t believe it.  Considering all he’s been through so early in life, he is still a pretty happy kid.  I can’t bear to let him out of my sight, and I’m just so glad we are home together as a family.

Love,

P.S.  I should mention the handmade blanket was given to us from an organization called Sadie’s Angels while we were staying in the CTICU, with the following message “May the one who receives this blanket be cradled in hope, kept in joy, graced with peace, and wrapped in love.”  I plan on keeping it in our family for a long time to come.

my baby

I know I haven’t posted in quite some time.  There have been some major things going on in our neck of the woods and not all of it has been easy.  Just to summarize, I had my baby boy on December 23rd, 2010.  He is just precious!  It was love at first sight and we can’t get enough of him.

Unfortunately after having him home for two weeks, his pediatrician discovered a possible problem with his heart.  She sent us the emergency room on January 6th, 2011 and its been sort of downhill from there.  Well, not all downhill, as he is recovering now – but he ended up needed emergency heart surgery because he has a hole in his heart and an undeveloped valve.  It was such a shock and its been quite the roller coaster ride, but as I said he is getting better.  We are still living in the hospital, but hoping to be home in the next week or so.

If you’d like to follow our journey, I have been posting on my personal blog:  http://www.dxeechick.blogspot.com

The plan is to eventually combine my two blogs into one, but that will have to wait until I have a little more time.
Thanks for checking in.  Hope to be posting lots more pictures of my beautiful boy soon!

Love,

my love list

1. Minute Maid Soft Frozen Raspberry Lemonade.  Delicious and only 70 calories!  The perfect summer treat!
2. I gave in and started using Proactiv again.  I have been off of it for almost 2 years, but pregnancy hormones are making me break out like crazy.  I can’t take it.  And this stuff works.  Plus I got to buy it out of a vending machine, which was kind of awesome.
3. I tried THE best cupcake today.  It was from a shop in West Hollywood called Cake & Art.  They specialize in funky, designer cakes, but sell these cupcakes at the counter.  Mine was the Key Lime Pie.  It was to die for.
4. Flip-flop weather is here and I’m taking full advantage of it.
5. I’m sad that summer TV is back, because there’s just not very much to watch!  Except for one show – So You Think You Can Dance.  The new format is kind of funky, but I just love watching talented people do amazing things.  I always start thinking I should take dance classes when this show is on.
